ABOUT

Hi, I go by king56bob online. I build small things with code, mostly because something annoyed me and I figured I could fix it myself.

That's how most of what's here started: a private place to hang out with friends, a button nobody should press, a scoreboard so nobody does math on game night, a recipe book for coffee. Small, useful, and built for people I actually know before anyone else.

When I'm not building, I'm probably playing video games. Shooters, sandbox games, whatever the group chat is on this week. That's also why I'm making UNSIGNED, a capture-the-flag FPS, and why there's usually a game server running somewhere on my box.

I'm also into ARGs (alternate reality games): hidden clues, puzzles that leak into the real world, stories you have to dig for. I definitely haven't hidden anything on this site. You could try typing help into the terminal on the homepage. A few times. No reason.

I also started my own company, n3rdlabs: a one-person software lab where my apps live. If you wanna check it out, it's at n3rdlabs.dev.

Other things I'm into: good coffee, card games with friends, taking apart how apps work, and running my own server instead of renting someone else's. I'd rather keep things simple, fast, and private than big and noisy: no ads, no third-party trackers, no endless feeds.

I do count visits myself, so I know if anyone's actually stopping by: roughly what city, which pages, and how far people get in the puzzle. No cookies, no names, and nothing leaves my server. It's just so I can see where people get stuck and make things better.
